i’ve lost track on how many runs i’ve joined since 2010. as of the moment, my closet is filled with singlets of races i’ve ran. it was all for fun’s sake when i started running on a measly 3k distance with a very unimpressive time. but, eventually it became, to some extent, addictive. the adrenaline, the excitement and the pride you feel when you reach the finish line. i started to join more fun runs held almost every weekend and inched my way up with 5k, then 10k, and just this morning my first ever 12k.
one of the most memorable runs that i’ve had was when i was beside coach rio dela cruz at the starting line of the run rio davao leg last august 2011. and he ran with me for the first few meters. then, i left him. uhm, because he was running way too slow. lol. kidding.
sadly with all the runs that i’ve joined, i still don’t have the runner’s built that i’ve wanted. maybe with a few more runs, i'd get there. and that's a big maybe.
and for my first ever 12k run, i finished with an approximate time of 1:20:00. a couple of minutes slower than my target finish but hey not bad for a first time.
and i got myself my first ever finisher’s medal. :D
yey me!
